Morgan, currently minister for women and equalities, has been Conservative member for Loughborough since 2010 and is a qualified solicitor. She has a parliamentary majority of 3,744 votes. Morgan is set to run the Department for Education alongside her Women and Equalities brief, which she took on in April.

Gove, who has run the DfE since the Coalition took office in May 2010, is to become chief whip. Other changes in the reshuffle include childcare minister Liz Truss, who is to become Education Secretary, and Nick Hurd who has last his job at the Cabinet Office.
